Companion Animal Welfare Alliance (CAWA) is a non-profit organization in Chico, California.
CAWA oversees four programs for the benefit of animals in our community, both owned and unowned:
Neighborhood Cat Advocates is a volunteer operated Trap-Neuter-Return program for feral and unowned cats. Since 2013, we have spayed and neutered over 15,000 free-roaming cats.
PawPrints Thrift Boutique is an all-volunteer operated thrift boutique, the sales of which benefit all three of our spay and neuter programs: Neighborhood Cat Advocates, PawPrints Spay/Neuter Clinic, and P-SNAP (PawPrints Spay/Neuter Assistance Program), a voucher program used to assist low-income families with spay & neuter costs for companion animals. To date, P-SNAP has helped pay for the spays & neuters of over 6,100 cats and dogs.
PawPrints Spay/Neuter Clinic was opened by CAWA in March of 2023, with the goal of filling the biggest need in Chico: spaying and neutering feral and unowned cats. To date, we have spayed & neutered 1,300 cats at our clinic, and we are just getting started!
Our goal is to reduce and one day end the overpopulation of unowned animals in our community.
We appreciate your support!
